Our Mission
Mesopotamia Rising Coalition exists to confront the violence of radical Islam, protect vulnerable women and minorities, and empower survivors to reclaim their voices, rebuild their lives, and lead the transformation of Iraq.
Meet Our Founder
Sarah Idan is an Iraqi-American activist, former Miss Universe Iraq (2017), She is known for her advocacy on peace, women’s rights, and cultural understanding, as well as her outspoken stance against extremism and authoritarianism.

Mediha Alhamad - A Yazidi Survivor
Mediha is a young Yezidi woman from northern Iraq who was kidnapped by ISIS during the 2014 genocide against the Yezidi community in Sinjar. Like thousands of other Yezidi women and girls, she was torn from her family and subjected to violence, captivity, and forced displacement. Despite enduring unimaginable trauma, Mediha embodies the strength and resilience of her people. Her story reflects not only the suffering of the Yezidi community but also their determination to survive, preserve their identity, and seek justice. Mediha continues to represent the countless Yezidi women whose voices deserve to be heard.
Fawzia Sido - Yezidi Survivor
Fawzia Amin Sido is a young Yazidi woman from northern Iraq who survived a decade of captivity after being abducted by ISIS in 2014 at just 10 years old. Forced into child marriage, abuse, and later smuggled into Gaza, she endured unimaginable hardship under Hamas before being rescued in 2024 through an international operation conducted by Israel. Today, her story stands as both a symbol of resilience and a call to action for the thousands of Yazidi women and children still missing.

We envision a future where no one lives in fear of radical extremism in Iraq or anywhere. The Mesopotamia Rising Coalition is committed to rescuing those still trapped by the violence of radical Islam, while building a strong support system for survivors, especially women and minorities. Through healing, empowerment, and leadership, we help victims rise beyond survival. Their voices will not only rebuild lives but educate the world — exposing the true impact of radicalism on vulnerable communities and igniting a global commitment to justice, freedom, and human dignity.
